Vintage Dansk Festivaal 'Eyeball' Tray * Yellow Lacquer

Beautiful lines and bright lustrous color of the Dansk Festivaal line of serving items make these pieces a favorite among collectors. The rarity of good condition pieces make this tray a real find.

Jens Quistgaard designed this "eyeball" tray for Dansk in 1959. Because the lacquer is easily damaged the pieces were not very utilitarian and production was stopped in the early 1960's.

A beautiful shade of yellow lacquer on a maple base surrounds a round insert of teak end-wood butcher block. The yellow may be described as mustard yellow with a touch of green. The result is an interesting eye-shaped tray. Note that the color in the last photos looks more chartreuse or green than it actually is.

This tray is in good condition. There are two cracks in the lacquer, which is common in many of these pieces. You will find fine scratches in the lacquer surface. A couple of knife marks may be found on the teak cutting board insert. There are scuff marks on the bottom from scooting the tray across surfaces. Please use the zoom function to carefully inspect the condition of the tray.

To clean, use a soft cloth rather than paper towels or other abrasive materials.

The following language is used to describe the condition of items in the shop:

* Excellent or Like New: item has very minimal signs of use or wear.

* Very Good: item has light signs of use or wear.

* Good Vintage Condition: item shows signs of use and wear typical for its age.

* Well Used: item has significant flaws but none-the-less has practical or aesthetic value.
